Development and validation of multimedia-based instructional module in Science 7

A B S T R A C T
This study aimed to develop and validate a multimedia-based instructional module in Science 7. This was initiated as a response to the poor performance of Filipino learners on international and national standard assessments in Science. A descriptive approach of research was utilized in developing and validating the module. Each lesson in the module consisted of the following parts: learning objectives, pretest, discussion of the topic, activities, posttest, and references. The development of the module underwent four phases: planning, content validation and analysis, designing, and development. The Lawshe’s content validity formula was used in determining the essential learning competencies that were included in the module. A validation tool was used by ten experts in validating the content, design/format, technical/technological, and pedagogical aspect of the module. Results of the study showed that all of the validators agreed that the developed multimedia-based instructional module in Science 7 met all the criteria found in each parameter on the validation tool. Therefore, it was concluded that the developed multimedia-based instructional module can be used as instructional material by Science 7 learners.

Political awareness and involvement of college of arts and sciences students of Laguna State Polytechnic University

A B S T R A C T
The study sought to determine the level of Political Awareness and Involvement of College of Arts and Sciences Students of Laguna State Polytechnic University. The quantitative and descriptive-correlational method was employed using a self-made questionnaire with 60 respondents. To determine the relationship of political awareness and involvement of the respondents, Pearson correlation analysis was used. The research revealed that the respondents’ political awareness such as public policies, political leaders, and political issues is high. On the other hand, the respondents’ political involvement pertaining to voting, involvement in public discussions, and political activism are high. It was revealed that the awareness of political leaders is significantly correlated to voting and involvement in public discussion, while the awareness of political issues is significantly related to involvement in voting. While there is no relationship with the remaining variables.

Virtual reality and augmented reality technologies: A closer look

A B S T R A C T
Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) technologies are based on the creation of a completely new scene that cannot be touched by the bare hand but is sensually perceived through a combination of artificial
visual and sound effects. Although the overall goal of these two technologies is similar, the artificial reality that can be created via VR or AR is not the same. VR is a computer-generated simulation of an alternate world or reality, primarily used in 3D movies and video games. Virtual reality creates a simulation that aims to close off the outside world or immerse the viewers, using computers and sensory equipment such as headphones and gloves. The HTC Vive, Samsung Gear VR glasses, and Google cardboard are some of the most popular devices used in VR. Virtual reality applications are not limited to entertainment and games only, but are also used in the field of education and medicine, for example, surgeons plan and train their operations, and it has also been used in the military field to simulate some military exercises under harsh conditions.
