An empirical gap was observed concerning published scholarly works conducted focusing on the relationship and direct effect of TikTok utilization on students’ engagement. Therefore, conducting an inquiry regarding this issue is highly recommended. In this regard, this comparative, correlational, and causal study is focused on examining the relationship and direct effect of utilizing the said application to the engagement of students in the City College of Angeles, Angeles City, Philippines. Data are obtained by conducting an online survey to a sample of undergraduate students (NMale = 238(38.5%), NFemale = 380(61.5%). Based on the findings, it was discovered that no observed significant variance concerning TikTok utilization [Male (Mdn = 2.67) and Female (Mdn = 2.62), U(NMale = 238, NFemale = 380) = 116236.000, z = -.637 p = .524, r = -0.025)] and students’ engagement [Male (Mdn = 3.29) and Female (Mdn = 3.19), U(NMale = 238, NFemale = 380) = 114478.000, z = -1.451 p = .147, r = -0.058)] with respect to gender. Interestingly, a positive association was observed between the two variables [r(616) = .336, p < .05)]. Finally, it was found that TikTok utilization positively predicts students’ engagement [F(1, 616) = 82.574, p < .001], and the R 2 = .118 displayed that the model explains 11.8% of the variance in students’ engagement. Based on the findings, proposals for students, teachers, and future studies are presented as a result of this investigation.

The Philippine General Hospital (PGH) is a tertiary hospital in Ermita, Manila, that was founded on August 17, 1907. It adheres to the philosophy of providing all Filipinos with internationally competitive, cost-effective, compassionate, and accessible health care. It was recently one of the COVID-19 facilities. The PGH sits 9.2 kilometers east of the West Valley Fault, making it more vulnerable to ‘The Big One,’ a 7.2 magnitude earthquake. Until present, no research has been done to examine the PGH’s seismic susceptibility in the case of a large-magnitude earthquake. In keeping with this, the study intended to analyze the seismic susceptibility of the Spine Building, one of PGH’s oldest structures. It focused on constructing fragility curves to assess if the building could sustain a 0.4g peak ground acceleration (PGA) earthquake with a maximum likelihood of exceedance of 10%, as required by the Philippine National Structural Code (NSCP) for Seismic Zone 4 sites. The study employed 12 worldwide and 12 local earthquakes from the Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology, with PGA excitation levels ranging from 0.1g to 3.0g (with a 0.1g gap) (IRIS). The structural model of the PGH Spine Building was created using SAP2000, which was subsequently utilized to perform Pushover Analysis using the Capacity Spectrum Method (CSM). The PGH Spine Building might collapse with 0.538g PGA, which corresponds to Intensity VIII, according to the results of the developed fragility curves, producing significant structural shaking. Furthermore, for 0.4g PGA, the calculated highest likelihood of exceedance in the ‘collapse damage’ condition was 5.24 percent, with no results above 10%, implying that the PGH Spine Building complies with the NSCP seismic requirement for structures located in Seismic Zone 4. As a result, an adequate retrofitting strategy is not required for the PGH Spine Building.

This descriptive action research aimed to determine the work-related stressors of secondary school teachers’ experience, particularly in the school. Based on the gathered data, it is evident that the majority of secondary school teachers have to adjust to the evolving way of teaching. The hybrid approach to teaching and learning (face-to-face and online) takes a toll on teachers’ preparation. Utilizing several tools and platforms and incorporating various techniques to engage learners has caused teachers to spend significant time and resources in preparation. On top of it, the additional clerical and administrative tasks have caused the secondary school teachers to be exhausted and under pressure daily. Adapted survey questionnaires were administered to assess the respondents’ stressors, particularly at school. There was a total of eighty-four (84) purposely selected secondary school teachers/faculty members. Furthermore, a five-point Likert scale was employed to determine the respondents’ results, eventually leading to data interpretation using descriptive ratings. On the other hand, Cronbach Alpha was used to check the internal validity of the surveys with a result of .87 for the first part of the questionnaires (work-related stressors experienced) and .94 for the second part (extent effect of work-related stress) which are both acceptable. The results reveal that secondary school teachers’ main causes of stress were multitasking at work with a mean of (M=3.97) followed by tedious tasks at work with a mean of (M=3.44). Negative stress has caused a tremendous burden on school teachers. According to respondents, the emotional aspect requires immediate attention to reduce stress. This aspect receives the highest response of 45% followed by the physiological aspect at 24%. Primary consideration is given to the conduct of action research to determine whether secondary school teachers are emotionally, mentally, and physically in excellent health. The findings led to the development of a stress management program (SMP) specifically designed for secondary school teachers.

The educational system of the world has reached the 21st century. Teachers and principals have to adopt the immense changes brought by technological advancement. Teachers are equipped with 21st-century tools thanks to the administrators’ technological expertise and their own; however, the intensity is only a possibility waiting to become a reality upon integration. At the height of the 2020 educational set-up brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, the skills of positive technology integration for both administrators and teachers are needed to actualize and harmonize their respective areas. On this premise, a descriptive-correlational research design was conducted to assess the influence of administrators’ technological leadership on teachers’ technology proficiency in public high schools in the District of Bulakan and Sta. Maria, Bulacan, Philippines. It administered survey questionnaires to 16 administrators and 285 junior high school teachers during the school year 2020–2021. The data was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The results indicated that administrators possess a high level of technological leadership. This implies that they are ready and have full knowledge and practical know-how on the utilization and application of technology. On the other hand, teachers also possessed a high level of technological proficiency. This indicates that they are adept at utilizing technology to aid in the teaching and learning process. It comes to the conclusion that teachers’ technological aptitude is not much impacted by administrators’ technological leadership. This means that teachers can be more proficient; they upskill themselves since this is the demand of 21st century learning. Recommendation includes the implementation of educational reforms that support the new normal in education through programs that improve the quality of instruction and delivery, particularly during times of emergency or state calamity when classes are suspended or interrupted.

The association of nutritional status and malarial disease is complex with multiple dimensions. Deficiencies in some of these nutritional parameters rethought to lead to malnutrition with subsequent susceptibility to malaria infection. The objective of this study is to determine iron status of malaria and control subjects attending selected hospitals in Sokoto metropolis, Nigeria. Serum iron was measured by the method of Nitro-PAPS. TBC was assessed calorimetrically while Transferrin and UIBC were determining using specific sharing formula. Result of the study observed significant(p<0.005) increased in TIBC level of most male infected individuals compared to female infected whereas a decreased in Transferrin level in about all male infected individuals than in female infected and vice-visa. The serum iron levels are comparatively low due to redistribution of iron from the serum into the tissue storage forms (transferrin). Also, the percentage transferrin is low, perhaps due to the body absorbing more transferrin than needed, inadequate production of transferrin by the liver which is the major site of malaria infection or excess excretion of transferrin in the urine by the kidneys. After a general analysis, the study observed that serum iron, TIBC and transferrin are highly affected by the malaria.
